Are we dating or courting? How do I know which one is best for me?
YourDictionary defined dating "to be romantically involved with someone. An example of dating is two people seeing each other exclusively for six months.
#2 The definition of dating is marking, assigning or recording with a date, or showing that something is typical for a certain time period." (Red Flag! It usually takes more than six months in any relationship building to reveal a person true character and motives, time will reveal everything - Just saying!)
According to the Urban Dictionary courting "is the experience of developing a deep relationship with someone, with a view to seeing if marriage is right for the couple, without the complexity of sexual intimacy being part of that relationship. Enabling each to find out everything about each other, developing unconditional love and trust, without rushing things, to decide if this really is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with."
STOP! Seriously think about this and evaluate which definition is playing the right tune in your hearing? Fewer headaches and less stress? Clearly dating is a time period and courting leads to a lifetime commitment. I've heard some people (male and female) say, “Courting is “old fashioned”, who wants to wait to have sex? You should try out that person in bed first and see if they are worth being with.” WOW! In other words ladies, we should open up ourselves intimately, emotionally, psychologically, and expose our precious private goods to someone we barely know without taking the time to find out if their motives are right. That can be scary!
STRATEGIZE: Get to know people's intentions first and see if they are worth your time of day, month, year or lifetime? I'm just saying! Don't sell yourself short because "easy to get, easy to lose". My uncle once said to me (I wish he had told me sooner, but nevertheless I applied this principle after I heard it). He said, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" Meaning- someone who will not marry because sex without any commitment is so easy to obtain.
Don't be a fool! Stop giving up your precious treasures to a merchant that doesn't want to pay for them first, that's thievery. So, dating or courting, Which one are you worth? If you think dating, think again!
Go easy on yourself, listen to wise counsel. They that hang with the wise will become wise!
